Knowing Your target audience is crucial to running a successful business. I mean think about what is required to have a successful business, to begin with! You need loyal customers, an enticing product but most of all a solution for people. Begin with finding exactly who you are selling to and then it doesn't become a sales game but rather a solution to a problem.

Think About Who Will Be Buying & Where Are They

One of the first steps to formulating a business plan is identifying your target customers. You need to identify select groups by category. These categories normally include age bracket, gender, marital status, and such. At times, these categories may even include special groups such as employment status, nationality, physical health, vital statistics, and such.

If you are selling weight-loss products, for instance, your target group may include the following: overweight people, women, ages 16-30, and such. Break the process down into every single aspect of the consumer and see where opportunities present themselves for you to become a solution. Knowing where your target audience is hanging out, socializing, or talking about creates an Opportunity for you to insert your brand in a relatable way.

How To Attract Your Target Audience

Once you identify your target audience, it will be easier to create a marketing and advertisement plan. Simply think of the thing that your target group likes. Think of what things will attract their attention. If your target group are children, for example, it might be a good idea to use advertisements that include a lot of playful colors. Maybe your target audience include athletes, use sports graphics and related copy to attract them.

If your target groups are health-conscious individuals, you might catch their attention by starting your sales pitch with health topics. Always relate to the main customer persona when trying to attract new customers and this will create a sense of familiarity. Someone in the real estate Industry might host a "Buying your First Home" webinar and this can create an almost endless list of leads for the agent or company. Some might find themselves unable to host events due to covid-19 and shutdowns but pivoting your business model is the only way to assure your Business's success.

Finding the correct location to do business is one of the most crucial parts of business planning. You may have the best product, the best employees, and the most amazing list of resources. But if your business location is wrong, everything could go wrong. Business location is particularly important to stores. These may include restaurants and groceries. Businesses like these need to be located in a strategic place.

Believe it or not, there is a market for just about anything you can create. If you don't know how to find a target audience begin to experiment and test different types of markets. Think about some of the things you purchase daily from Amazon or Target. A lot of these products are also sold by local suppliers and businesses that sell on a much more target strategy resulting in more consistent sales.

Understand Why Your Products Or Services Is The Solution

This is one of the questions that you need to answer: What is it about your product that your customers want? Or what is it about your service offering that your customers want to avail themselves? By understanding this, you will understand better how to reach your customers. Going back to what I was stating in the earlier statements about being the solution. You always want to be the brand or business that a person thinks of when the service or product you offer comes to mind. This means creating something that not only fixes the problem because there are plenty of options but more so adding more capabilities or experiences.

If we take Coca-Cola, Apple, and many more big-name brands, they provide some sort of solution to either an urgent problem or one that isn't there. These companies have engrained themselves into our memories and surrounded all the moments we consider memorable. You have to keep this in mind with your brand. Focus on how the Customer will benefit from all of your solutions and will they remember you when the time comes to make a decision.
